TOOL 04 INTEGER BASES
CONVERT / NUMBER SYSTEMS
Change the notation.
Convert a signed whole number between binary, octal, decimal and hexadecimal. The tool uses integer arithmetic, so large values are not rounded through floating point.
READING BASE 16
Hexadecimal uses 0–9 and A–F. After 9, A represents ten, B eleven, through F fifteen. The next place is sixteen, so FF means (15 × 16) + 15 = 255.
LEADING ZEROES
Leading zeroes do not change an integer’s value. The converter emits a normalized representation, so it does not preserve fixed-width padding or signed two’s-complement encoding.
